AS CAMPAIGNS for Zanu PF’ supcoming internal polls get more heated, war veterans are increasingly clashing with party bigwigs over key positions further inflaming tribal and factional wars within the former liberation movement.
So determined is the push by the war veterans to have their own occupy influential party posts countrywide, including provincial chairpersons’ seats, that tensions have hit the roof in Mashonaland West, Mashonaland Central, Manicaland and Harare provinces as the jostling takes a nasty turn.
This comes as more and more party bigwigs are throwing their hats into the ring for executive positions ahead of the impending internal polls.
It also comes as a revamp of Zanu PF structures is nearing completion, ahead of the party’s annual conference scheduled to be held in October.
