WITH coronavirus continuing to wreak havoc in the country, health experts say only a total lockdown will help authorities to contain the virulent respiratory disease which is threatening to spiral out of control.
At the same time, the government says it feels let down by Zimbabweans’ lax attitude towards the lethal virus, which killed another 34 people and infected 2 264 others on Wednesday alone, amid a growing shortage of beds at both public and private hospitals.
Among the health experts who called for a total lockdown yesterday, was the president of the Medical and Dental Private Practitioners of Zimbabwe Association (MDPPZA), Johannes Marisa, who said this was not a time for the government to “dilly-dally further on taking decisive action”.
