AS COVID-19 continues to run amok, Finance minister Mthuli Ncube had one message for the masses yesterday: get vaccinated and the economy remains fully open, or don’t get vaccinated, it gets shut.
Ncube made this call as the government received two million vaccines from China, amid surging infections and rising number of people succumbing to the lethal respiratory disease.
“The vaccination programme is not just about saving lives, it is also about saving the economy because when citizens have been vaccinated, then it will be easier for the government to open up all aspects of the economy.
“We are going to receive another 1,5 million doses on Thursday next week and another two million doses by the end of July because we are determined to reach immunity target of 60 percent of the population,” Ncube said.
