THERE is no let up to the senseless infighting consuming the country’s opposition, with MDC supporters belonging to different factions involved in ugly scenes at the weekend.
Yesterday officials from the two dominant factions of the country’s main opposition traded accusations and counter accusations over the chaotic scenes which led to police intervening in the melee in Bindura. MDC spokesperson Witness Dube told the Daily News last night that the disturbing scenes had come after an alleged attempt by MDC Alliance supporters to block a party meeting which had been organised in the Mashonaland Central town for provincial structures.
On his part, MDC Alliance deputy spokesperson, Clifford Hlatywayo, disputed the claims, instead blaming MDC supporters for the violent disturbances that left many local residents in a state of shock.
