. . . calls for strict discipline within the military
PRESIDENT Emmerson Mnangagwa yesterday applauded the Zimbabwe Defense Forces (ZDF) for the selfless work that they continue to do in the raging war against Covid-19.
Speaking at State House in Harare, during the Defence Forces Day, Mnangagwa also said his government would deal ruthlessly with those who engage in sinister activities that undermine the country’s security.
At the same time, he implored the ZDF to avoid all acts and associations which shame national security institutions — warning further those military officers “should never be entangled in criminal activities”.
This comes as incidents of rogue and former soldiers involved in violent crime have been on the increase in recent months, forcing the ZDF to issue public statements on the cases. — Daily News
