THE Bulawayo City Council (BCC) has not been impressed by the government’s decision to take over the rehabilitation of local roads.
Some councillors view the recent Emergency Road Rehabilitation Programme (ERRP) launched by the government as a political move ahead of the 2023 harmonised elections.
According to the council’s latest report, some councillors felt that the takeover of the roads for rehabilitation was uncalled for and was tantamount to the government imposing itself on the city.
The government allocated BCC $194 657. 302 and $625 464 for ERRP Phases One and Two respectively, bringing the total to $820 121 302.
