This comes after the government increased the price of an ordinary travel document to US$60 and US$200 and US$318 respectively, for three-day and 24-hour emergency documents, as it battles to reduce a huge passport backlog.
In a Government Gazette notice published yesterday, Home Affairs minister Kazembe Kazembe said the passport fees will also be payable in local currency at the prevailing foreign currency auction rate.
It is hereby notified that the Minister has, in terms of section 22 of the Citizenship of Zimbabwe Act (Chapter 4:01), made the following regulations… the fees payable for obtaining a passport shall be for, ordinary passport (US$60), three-day passport, (US$200) and emergency 24hr passport (US$318),” the notice reads.
